How it works

Three small steps, then forget about it

1

Plug in your Frodig

Pop the little hub by your plants and connect it to Wi-Fi. It pairs with a 6-character code — no app store hoops.

2

Pop in the sensors

One soil, light and temperature sensor per pot — up to four plants per hub. Calibrate once and you’re set.

3

Rest easy

Frodig sips water to each plant exactly when the soil runs dry. You just glance in now and then.

What it does

Quietly attentive, never fussy

Three sensors per plant and one careful pump. That’s all it takes to keep things green.

Knows when it’s thirsty

A soil-moisture sensor in every pot — Frodig waters only when the soil actually needs it, never on a dumb timer.

Watches sun & warmth

Light and temperature sensors flag a plant that’s baking on the sill or sitting in a cold draft.

Up to four plants per hub

One small tank and four gentle pumps. Group them by room and see the whole windowsill at a glance.

Travels well

Vacation mode eases off while you’re away, and the water-level sensor tells you before the tank runs dry.

Not a company — a labour of love

Frodig is free, open, and yours

We started Frodig as a weekend project because we kept letting our plants dry out. There’s no pricing page, no upsell — just a friendly tool we’re happy to share. Use our hosted version for free, or run your own.

MIT licensed

Every line of the app and firmware is open. Read it, fork it, send a pull request.

Open hardware

Schematics and a parts list are published. Solder your own, or order a kit from a fellow grower.

Self-hostable

Run the whole thing on a Raspberry Pi at home. No cloud account required, no data leaves your house.

Built together

A handful of plant-killers who got tired of dead ferns. Everything is decided in the open.
